십자가 그늘 아래 나 쉬기 원하네
Beneath the cross of Jesus. I fain would take my stand,
저 햇볕 심히 뜨겁고 또 짐이 무거워
The shadow of a mighty Rock, Within a weary land;
이 광야 같은 세상에 늘 방황할 때에
A home within the wilderness, A rest upon the way,
주 십자가의 그늘에 내 쉴 곳 찾았네
From the burning of the noontide heat, And the burden of the day.

내 눈을 밝히 떠서 십자가 볼 때
Upon the cross of Jesus. Mine eye at times can see
날 위해 고난 당하신 주 예수 보인다
The very dying form of One, Who suffered there for me;
그 형상 볼 때 내 맘에 큰 찔림 받아서
And from my stricken heart with tears, Two wonders I confess,
그 사랑 감당 못하여 눈물만 흘리네
The wonders of redeeming love, And my own worthlessness.

십자가 그늘에서 나 길이 살겠네
I take, O cross, thy shadow. For my abiding place:
나 사모하는 광채는 주 얼굴 뿐이라
I ask no other sunshine than. The sunshine of His face;
이 세상 나를 버려도 나 두려움 없네
